What we do
SIFLC helps Texas Southern students learn personal finance and investing by doing it. Every major is welcome, and nobody needs prior experience because the first workshops start with how to read a stock quote.
Learn
Our workshops cover budgeting, credit, saving, and investing in plain language, and we rewrite any lesson that members find hard to follow.
Practice
Members manage a $100,000 paper portfolio on MarketWatch. Prices are real and the money is pretend, which makes mistakes cheap and useful.
Pitch
After researching a company and writing a thesis, you present it to judges who score the pitch out of 100 and send back written comments.
Connect
Professionals visit every semester. This fall that means the Energy Finance Roundtable, and the year ends with a networking event.
